Jacob, Ware win academic award

South seniors Anjali Jacob and Laura Ware received the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendent’s Award for Academic Excellence for the 2007-2008 school year.
Every year, principals, counselors, and teachers select two students from each high school to receive the award. Seniors Isaac Bleicher and Emma Kohse were selected from North.
Jacob and Ware’s guidance counselors wrote statements praising the their personalities as well as their academic achievements.
“Anjali has a heart as big as Gandhi’s, and she has the commitment to make a difference in the world, Jacob’s guidance counselor Homer Turner wrote. Turner referenced Jacob’s efforts to bring clean water to poor countries such as Honduras as well as her volunteer work at a local daycare.
Ware’s guidance counselor, William Murray, wrote about her work with children in Trinidad, South Africa, Mexico, Ecuador, and Chad.
“Laura Ware is an outstanding young woman in every imaginable facet, Murray said. “The world is a better place with Laura Ware in it.
