Rise to Rebellion

The novel Rise to Rebellion by Jeff Shaara offers an
amazing insight into the Revolutionary War. The book
is not simply a summary of the war, but is told
through the perspectives important political figures
of the time: Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, General
Thomas Gage, Thomas Jefferson, and many other crucial
players that shaped the revolution.

The reason I found this book interesting was that it
didn’t simply summarize the Boston Massacre, the
Battle of Lexington and Concord, and other milestones
of the war. Instead, it told the story through the
perspective of the people who actually witnessed these
events. Unlike many dry history novels, the reader
experiences the events first hand and is able to see
the non-political side of famous figures. If you’re
interested in history, Rise to Rebellion is the
perfect novel to read.
