By Natalie Starkey and Stephanie SullivanSo this is finally our turn to be on top, and let us tell you, it’s great. For those of you who don’t already know us, our names are Stephanie and Natalie.
You know, those girls you see in the halls who seem to be attached at the hips. We have spent three long years working our way up and now, with great pleasure, we get to tell you all how it should be done.
To the class of 2011, this is where it all begins. We know, you’re excited. You’re finally out of middle school and playing with the big kids. While you may think you know everything there is to know, we have a few words of wisdom for you.
Girls, don’t let a cute older guy with a bottle of something you may or may not have ever seen before fool you. This is the oldest trick in the book and while it might seem fun, you may have a different opinion the next morning.
And for all you guys who are getting frustrated with your sudden loss of popularity, don’t worry, the girls will be back next year, if not sooner.
Most importantly, to all the froshies out there, don’t forget your old friends just because you met some cool new ones. After all, who was it that knew you when you had braces and loved you anyway?
Sophomores, you’re a little older, you’re a little wiser, but you still have a long way to go. Congratulations, in just a few months you’ll be enjoying the pleasure of free blocks. That is, as long as you don’t get caught skipping study hall and sneaking off campus. And believe us, it can happen¦Stephanie would know.
Just remember guys, this is when it all starts to matter. While you should enjoy your last stress and college free year, do NOT slack off now, you’ll regret it the day you get your transcript. Once again, trust us, we would know.
One last thing to you guys: you may not be a freshman anymore, but you’re definitely not an upperclassman, so don’t act like it. Just a few months ago you were freshmen making those same stupid mistakes. Be nice to them.
Now, you poor, poor juniors. All we can really say is good luck. Besides the unfortunate fact that the next five years of your life depend on the choices you make now, enjoy finally being an upperclassman.
Here’s the good news: you can drive, you’re actually allowed off campus, and you’re half way done.
By the way guys, you may be upperclassmen, but you’re still just juniors¦don’t forget it. With the exception of a select few, stay out of the commons and the lot. The cafeteria is there for a reason.
So you are probably all wondering why we think we know everything. Well, it’s because we do. We are representing the class of 2008, and you better believe we have all taken over.
We are the seniors, and this is why we’re hot: 1) We run the commons. No one put up a fight this year, with good reason. 2) When we park in the lot, we look cool. When you park anywhere but Brandeis, you get towed. 3) We have “that senior. Just kidding. Seriously though, he’s got a waffle ball bat. 4) They love us at Bob’s and Mighty’s. 5) Last weekend, we had more fun than you. This weekend we will too. And, every weekend after that. 6) We grilled in the lot on the first day. Beat that.
Basically Newton South, we run this school. Trust us when we say stay on our good sides. It’s not that hard. Just make sure not make the three big mistakes.
First of all, it doesn’t matter if you don’t know us; let us in. Secondly, get out of our way. The halls are small and we have places to be.
Finally, respect people’s relationships. If you don’t, it will come back to haunt you.
And, on that note, it’s just high school, don’t take it too seriously. As a good friend of ours once said, “do well and lay low. Enjoy this while it lasts, it will be over before you know it. And seriously, we’re oh eight, don’t hate.
